Overview

This guided day tour takes you on a journey through the charming rural districts along the northern and northeastern coasts of Taiwan. 

Visit the atmospheric alleys of the historic village of Jiufen, a former gold mining town that has since become home to famous teahouses. Appreciate the coastal landscape of Yehliu Geopark, known for its dozens of unique sandstone sculptures—the products of coastal erosion. Take in the remote Pingxi District, a former coal mining town now famous for hosting the “Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival”, where you will experience the iconic tradition of releasing a sky lantern and visit the “Little Niagara Falls” of Taiwan—Shifen Waterfall. 

With your tour guide’s help, this tour will give you an insight into local history and allow you to truly appreciate the natural landscapes that Taiwan has to offer.

Description

This day tour starts with a visit to Yehliu Geopark, located in New Taipei City’s Wanli District. Yehliu Geopark, is home to a number of unique rock formations caused by wind and sea erosion—if you look closely you can also find trace fossils in the area.

The most famous rock formation here is the iconic “Queen’s Head”, a mushroom-shaped rock that resembles the profile of England’s Queen Elizabeth. Besides the Queen’s Head, other remarkable formations include Sea Candles, the Fairy Shoe, the Ginger Rocks, the Elephant Rock, the Ice Cream Rock, the Kissing Rock, and the Princess’ Head.

  1. Tour commentary will be provided in English (other languages can be quoted on request).
  2. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  3. The sequence and time of stay at tour stops may be adjusted according to the traffic/weather conditions.
  4. If the tour has to be canceled due to bad weather, we will contact you no later than the evening before the excursion day by email or SMS.
  5. Please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes earlier than the pick-up time.
  6. Each guest is allowed to bring one piece of carry-on baggage.
  7. This tour is not recommended for wheelchair users and people with physical disabilities.

Cancelations made 5-7 days prior to time of departure – 50% of tour price refunded.
